Why Choose Halewood Electrical

Why Manchester Homeowners and Landlords Call Us First

Halewood Electrical is a one-man, one-standard operation. Every job is quoted, carried out and signed off by the same qualified electrician — so nothing gets lost between an office and a subcontractor. After 18 years working on Greater Manchester's housing stock, from Victorian terraces in Chorlton to new apartments in Ancoats, there is very little we haven't already put right.

NICEIC Approved & Part P Registered

Every installation is certified and notified to Building Control where required, so your paperwork stands up at sale or letting.

No Call-Out Fee, Ever

You'll never be charged just for us turning up and taking a look.

Fixed Prices Before We Start

You approve a written figure first. No hourly-rate surprises and no "while I was in there" extras.

£5m Public Liability Insurance

Fully insured for domestic and light-commercial work, documentation available on request.

Tidy, Respectful Work

Dust sheets down, boots off, cables clipped properly, and the site left cleaner than we found it.

18 Years, One Local Reputation

Most of our work comes from repeat customers and neighbour recommendations across Greater Manchester.

Our Services

Electrical Services for Homes, Landlords and Small Business Premises

All work is carried out to BS 7671 (the IET Wiring Regulations) and certified on completion. Below is what we're called out for most across Greater Manchester.

Fuse Box / Consumer Unit Upgrades

Replacing old rewireable and MCB-only boards with a modern RCBO consumer unit, giving you proper individual circuit protection and a fully tested, certified installation. Typically completed in a single day.

EV Charger Installation

Supply and installation of 7kW home chargers, including load assessment, dedicated protected circuit, DNO notification and app setup. We'll advise honestly on whether your existing supply can take it before you commit.

EICR Landlord & Homeowner Certificates

Electrical Installation Condition Reports for rental properties, sales and peace of mind, with a clear plain-English summary of C1, C2, C3 and FI codes plus a fixed price for any remedials.

Full & Partial Rewires

Whole-house rewires for older properties, with a realistic plan for the disruption, staged working to keep you living in the house where possible, and full certification at handover.

Sockets, Lighting & Extra Circuits

Additional double sockets, USB sockets, outdoor sockets, downlights, feature lighting, dimmer solutions, garden and garage supplies, and cooker or shower circuits.

Fault Finding & Repairs

Tripping RCDs, dead circuits, buzzing switches, burning smells and intermittent faults traced methodically and fixed properly rather than patched.

Smoke, Heat & CO Alarms

Interlinked mains-powered alarm systems installed and tested to current standards, including landlord-compliant layouts.

Outdoor, Garden & Garage Power

Armoured supplies to garages, home offices, workshops, hot tubs and garden lighting, correctly protected and buried to depth.

24/7 Emergency Callout

Loss of power, water ingress into electrics, burning smells or exposed live parts — call any hour and you'll speak to an electrician.

What We Don't Do

We keep our standards high by staying in our lane. We don't take on new-build developer contracts, and we don't carry out industrial three-phase installations. If that's what you need, tell us anyway — we'll happily point you toward a specialist we'd trust ourselves.

How We Work

A Simple, Four-Step Process — No Surprises

  1. 1

    Get In Touch

Call, WhatsApp or email with a short description of the problem or project. Photos help enormously and often save a visit.

  2. 2

    Free Quote & Fixed Price

We assess the work — remotely where possible, on-site where needed — then send a clear written quote with a fixed price, an itemised scope, and no call-out charge for the visit.

  3. 3

    The Work, Done Properly

We arrive when we say we will, protect your flooring and furniture, keep you updated as we go, and test every circuit as it's completed.

  4. 4

    Certified & Signed Off

You receive your Electrical Installation Certificate, Minor Works Certificate or EICR, Building Control notification where required, and a walk-through of exactly what changed.

From first message to certificate in hand, you deal with one electrician throughout.

Certifications, Insurance & Compliance

Qualified, Registered and Fully Insured

Electrical work is one of the few trades where the paperwork matters as much as the workmanship. Here's exactly what backs up ours.

NICEIC Approved Contractor

Independently assessed on the technical quality and safety of our work, our test equipment and our certification. Registration number available on request.

Part P Registered (Building Regulations)

Notifiable domestic work is registered with Building Control on your behalf, and your compliance certificate follows automatically.

18th Edition Qualified (BS 7671)

All installations designed, installed, inspected and tested to the current IET Wiring Regulations.

City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing

Formally qualified in periodic inspection and testing, which is what an EICR should always be carried out by.

£5m Public Liability Insurance

Cover held for all domestic and light-commercial work, with a certificate available before we start if your letting agent or managing agent needs it.

Every Job Certified

You always receive documentation: an EIC, a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate, or an EICR. If someone doesn't give you paperwork, you don't have a certified installation.

Customer Reviews

What Greater Manchester Customers Say

18 years of work, and the recommendations still do the selling.

"Our fuse box was ancient and two other electricians just quoted a number by text. Halewood actually came out, explained what was wrong and what wasn't, and did the whole upgrade in a day. Certificate emailed the same evening."
Sarah T., DidsburyConsumer unit upgrade
"Needed EICRs on four rental flats before renewing tenancies. Straight prices, no drama, and the reports were written so I could actually understand what needed doing. He's done all my properties since."
Daniel M., SalfordLandlord EICR ×4
"Booked in for a 7kW EV charger and he told me upfront the supply needed checking first rather than just taking the deposit. Neat install, cable run hidden properly, and he set the app up with me before leaving."
Priya K., AltrinchamEV charger installation
"Power went off across half the house at 9pm on a Sunday. Answered the phone himself, was here within the hour, traced it to a failed cooker connection. Genuinely grateful."
Mark H., StockportEmergency callout
"Full rewire on a 1900s terrace. He staged it so we could stay in the house, kept the mess under control, and the price at the end was the price we agreed at the start."

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you charge a call-out fee?
No. There's no charge for coming out to look and quote. You only pay for work you've agreed in writing.
How much does a fuse box upgrade cost?
It depends on the number of circuits, the condition of the existing wiring and whether earthing and bonding need bringing up to standard. We give a fixed written price after assessing it — and we'll tell you if it genuinely doesn't need doing yet.
How often do I need an EICR?
For rented homes in England, an EICR is required at least every five years and at the start of a new tenancy. For owner-occupied homes, every ten years is the general recommendation, or before buying or selling.
My RCD keeps tripping — is that dangerous?
It means a protective device is doing its job, but repeated tripping points to a real fault, often moisture ingress or a failing appliance. Don't keep resetting it indefinitely. Call us and we'll trace the cause properly.
Can my house take a 7kW EV charger?
Usually yes, but it depends on your incoming supply, main fuse rating and existing load. We carry out a load assessment first and notify your DNO where needed, rather than assuming.
Do you provide certificates for the work?
Always. Depending on the job you'll receive an Electrical Installation Certificate, a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate, or an EICR, plus Building Control notification for notifiable work.
Are you insured?
Yes — £5m public liability. We'll send the certificate over before we start if you or your agent need it on file.
Do you take on new-builds or industrial work?
No. We focus on domestic and light-commercial work, and we don't take new-build developer contracts or industrial three-phase installations. Ask us anyway and we'll recommend someone suitable.
How quickly can you come out?
Standard bookings are currently 3–5 working days. Genuine emergencies are answered 24/7 and attended the same day wherever possible.
What's the quickest way to reach you?
WhatsApp. Send a message with a couple of photos and you'll usually get an answer faster than by any other route.
